Another Sad Day for Creatives

Oh so many thoughts in my brain and no clue how to express them. There is something to be said about being a "Tortured Artist". The recent deaths of Anthony Bourdain, Kate Spade and others including Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington, reminded me of this article I read.

I have a creative mind. A mind that goes nonstop. I have struggled since adolescence to make sense of how my actions and thoughts are different than those around me. I am by no means comparing my mind and life to those that I mentioned, but recognizing the parallel thoughts.

Art is in the eye of the beholder, whether it is music, culinary, design, photography... art is art. Creative individuals are under the constant pressure to fit in a society that wants you to think, act, and be a certain way.

Perhaps the saddest aspect of this, is that we, as a society, do not realize or care, about how this pressure affects people. I am not trying to make this a debate about education, religion, politics etc (although I could go on about the manners in which each of these fail artists).

I am simply asking the question, what can we do to foster and encourage creative minds so that maybe, just maybe, we can help save them from themselves?
